"Mason and Logan Kade are two brothers who did their own thing. They were rich and expected to attend her school, Fallen Crest Academy. They chose public school and now Samantha has to live with them. The problem is that she doesn't care at all: about them, about her friends, about her cheating boyfriend, or even about her parent's divorce. But maybe that's a good thing. Maybe change is a good thing."
This book contains adult/mature young adult situations.
Character InterviewHonestly, when I heard I could do a character interview, I had a fangirl squee moment. I was so excited. Than I started thinking about the past character interviews I read from Mason, Logan, and Sam. I loved them all and didn't know what new light I could bring forward to the fans (such as myself). I thought I would try someone different, an outsiders prospective might be fun to read. With that I thought of Mark, an outsider soon to become a step-brother to an insider.
Volpina Reads: Mark, can you tell us more about Sam. What is was like growing up with her? Has she always been this strong woman we read about?
Mark: He shrugs. "I don't know. I'm just getting to know her really. Sam kept to herself before the Kades came into the picture. She stayed with those two girls and her boyfriend mostly."
Volpina Reads: How did you meet Logan?
Mark: He laughs. "How does anyone meet Logan? Party! And we played league baseball together a summer. That was fun."
Volpina Reads: How did you become a member of the Elite? Was it something that happened naturally as a group of friends? How is the elite now that Sam has left schools? Still out for blood?
Mark: He frowns and scratches his head. "Uh, I guess I'm in the Elite because I'm friends with Adam and Peter. They're kinda top dogs at school, you know. They're okay. Things change every day. The girls always get mad at each other and decide they're mad at someone else the next day. I never know what's going on." He stops, frowns again, and leans forward. "Does that have to be on the record? They'll probably get pissed at me for saying that. I can't handle those girls on a good day."
Volpina Reads: Why the hard press from Adam to Sam when he could see her interest somewhere else? Was it a like thing or a "I lost to the Kade's" thing? Now that Sam has transferred, is he still trying to be friends or letting go?
Mark: "Uh..." He visibly cringes and his eyebrows shoot up. "Um. Adam...Adam's a chill guy." He nods. "That's all I'm saying on that one. Hey bro!"
Volpina Reads: When at the Nate's weekend party, can you give us any insights into the fearsome three?
Mark: "They're cool people. I like 'em."
Volpina Reads: With Sam soon to be your step-sister, has things changed for you at school or with friends? Trying to get close to the Kade's or Sam?
Mark: His eyebrows shoot up again. "Oh. Uh. I don't know. Maybe." He purses his lip, thinking about the question. "I get more attention, I guess. I don't like that. I like to slide through and be every one's friend. So, yeah, I guess it has changed, but that's good too. I like Sam. She's a chill girl."
Thanks Mark for your time and the interview!!
